I’m thrilled to share that the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme, led by the Sustainable Transitions: Energy, Environment and Resilience Centre (STEER), has been awarded a five-year funding extension worth £44 million from the UK Government. This was announced by the UK Minister for Development, Anneliese Dodds, during COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This takes the total funding in MECS to £99 million and will rapidly accelerate the global transition from biomass to clean cooking.
